Coastal charm
The entrances to this beach house in Scarborough were due for an update and the owners were looking for a space in the front yard to relax and entertain. By stabilizing a slope with boulders and dense planting, we were able to carefully site the patio among the existing pines while preserving the front lawn area. Installing a prebuilt grill island from New England Specialty Stone offered a cost-effective solution to coastal winds toppling the old freestanding grill. Spruce Mountain thermal flagstone was used for the patio and walkway surfaces. Widely jointed steppers maintain a casual beach vibe for the entrances and path to the outdoor shower, flowing into a more formal, tightly-jointed patio area.
The wide color range of Spruce Mountain flagging was a perfect fit for these Scarborough homeowners
The grill island was a prebuilt unit from our supplier, making for a fast install and budget-friendly addition to this patio area.
Even in late October, there are plenty of blooms to be found in the planting beds around the patio
A couple of extra-large slabs provide a dramatic entrance to the screened porch
Irregular steppers provide a casual entrance while granite cobble creates a maintenance-free border for the lawn and planting beds
