Stewart brings over ten years of experience in the green industry to Tree and Stone. He attended Tufts University, receiving bachelor's degrees in Environmental Studies and Quantitative Economics as well as a master's degree in Economics while competing for the hockey team. During and after his time at Tufts, Stewart gained a wide range of horticultural and construction experience, working for tree, landscape, green roofing, and general contracting companies in the Boston metro area as well as establishing his own landscape business.
In 2017, Stewart relocated to southern Maine and founded Tree and Stone, looking to share his unique functional approach to landscape design and his passion for the outdoors. He works directly on the design and installation of every Tree and Stone project.
Stewart is an avid reader and enjoys hiking, running, and any other excuse to get outside. He and his wife, Lacey, live in Scarborough with their three sons, Nolan, Weston, and Miller.
Roland robitaille, Lead Installer
Roland joined Tree and Stone in 2019, bringing valuable experience in horticulture and stone work from his six years building and maintaining gardens in midcoast Maine. He is a graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta, where he studied business and music. Roland lives in Portland and enjoys music, cooking, and snowboarding.
Nick Macdonald, installer
Nick joined Tree and Stone in 2023 and has been an integral part of the crew ever since. He loves spending time behind the wheel, whether he is hauling loads of crushed stone at work or heading to a car meet on the weekends. Having grown up in South Portland, he enjoys building outdoor spaces in and around his hometown.
